Locality:

The Cottage is about a mile outside the village of North Elmham, approximately 6 miles from the market town of East Dereham, and about 15 miles from Norwich. Being so central and with little traffic on the roads nowhere is far to travel.

Activities:

And there is much to do. The North Norfolk coast with its coastal reserves for bird watching. Visit Brancaster for sailing. Blakeney, here take a boat to see the seals. Many historic houses, Sandringham, Holkham, Houghton, Blickling, Felbrigg and Oxburgh. Gressenhall Rural Life Museum, Norwich Castle. Pensthorpe Waterfowl Park and Norfolk Wildlife Park. To name just a few things to do. Norwich hosts many plays before they reach the West End. It is a fine city to wander round. King's Lynn with its Tuesday Market Place of historic buildings and the revamped Corn Exchange with an excellent range of entertainment. Within half an hour there are many excellent golf courses.

Fishing:

Over the years this stretch of the Wensum has yielded some good catches. Fishermen are invited to write down their fishing experiences. They make interesting reading. The largest Pike 24lb. Best Roach 21lb 10oz. Plenty of Chub between 2-5 lb. Also Perch and Dace, plus the native Brown Trout. There are many Still Waters within a short car drive away; lots of them are now open all the year round. For fishing on the cottage stretch there is no charge. But a licence is required.

Fishing comments in visitors book. “Plenty of roach and perch” “ Chub to 5lb” “Some decent pike” “Plagued by small pike” “Plenty of fish” “Fishing good, but hard”
